The Perfect Outfit

Fall is here!! I have always loved this time of year, where the leaves are changing and the weather cools off a bit. And best of all, I get to pull out my many pairs of skinny jeans and boots! :) Fall photos are by far my favorite, and I'm so excited for the upcoming shoots I have! My family just got our photos done, and let me tell you...finding the perfect outfit for everyone is NOT easy! You want everyone to stick to the color palette you choose and look great in what they are wearing, but that is definitely easier said than done. So I thought I would share a few ideas for those of you trying to get your clothing put together. You will never regret putting in the extra effort to find the perfect outfits! You are making an investment when you hire a professional photographer, and it is SO worth it to spend a little extra to give the photo that finished look. Here are some ideas for you:

Restoring Priceless Images...

I have always been fascinated by old photographs. My mom has boxes upon boxes of memories, and I can remember sitting and digging though the photos, asking her about who was in them and the story behind them. During our last semester at school I was in a Digital Restoration class, where we scanned and restored old photos. It is a time consuming job, but very rewarding! I love seeing the photos come to life. Here's the before and after of a few images I did for my assignments!

I have been very busy at school. Recently we entered two of our prints into competition, and one of my portraits scored in the excellent category! All of the hard work payed off. I have loved my Portrait class, because we have the freedom to be creative. I recently did a glamour session, engagement session, and tried window light! I have also done a few new commercial shots. I have two finals this week and then the school year is done! It really flew by, and now I'll be back home in Wisconsin for the summer. I'm definitely looking forward to doing some shots with my new studio lights!

Jennifer and RT's Wedding

Click on the link above to view a video sneak peak of Jennifer and RT's wedding! It was the first wedding I have done, so of course I was nervous the whole week before! But as soon as I got there, I was in my element and had no problem doing my thing. The ceremony took place in the St. Paul conservatory in the Sunken Garden. It was absolutely GORGEOUS in there! These two were so much fun! The kids were a blast and loved being in front of the camera.

School Assignments...

Here are some images from my first year at Ridgewater College. I am loving it so far! They keep us very busy, but I am learning so much. I have not been able to keep up with this blog, so I'm going to pick out some of my favorites. The first semester we did a lot of composition and design, and this semester we are focused on commercial products and studio lighting. Hope you enjoy! :)

This was a fun shoot just for some practice. We went around town for a couple hours and just had a blast! My sister Autumn has fun being a model for a while, and my brother Alec helps hold the reflectors. Thanks guys for helping me out! :) There were a few of my favorites from the shoot.

My first album cover art! We did two shoots, one indoor for the cover, and one outdoor for the back cover. She let me know what she wanted, but basically gave me free rein, so this is what i came up with! She is an amazing Christian artist, and I learned so much from this project.

This was a fun shoot! The whole family was just a blast. We went to several different places, including Pine Lake, Windmill Park, and the railroad tracks near their house.

These are some of the senior pictures I took that they chose for the yearbook. I love senior sessions; they are always fun and sometimes challenging, because you want them all to be different and relate to that specific senior. That is definitely one of my favorite parts of what I do.

For Zak's session we went to River Falls. It was the first time I have taken pictures here, but we got quite a few great shots!

Jordan's session was so much fun! We drove around Baldwin to Pine Lake and took some pictures along the way. This was one of the first shoots with my new lens, and i can totally tell the difference in the crisp images and the brighter colors.
